Genre research project 77/1362: Cakewalk
Cakewalk originally referred to a style of dance, developing from slaves parodying and mocking the social dances of their masters, but over time it became a specific musicial form as well. The music is in 2/4 time, and has a particular ooompah rhythm, owning to each bar having two alternate heavy beats. There were many recordings of cakewalks during the ragtime era.
