Past blasters

My friend Sierra showed me this video, and I think it's sufficiently good to warrant passing it on. Long-time listeners of Things that Are Square (like, 5 years ago long-time), will remember her as my former co-host. :)

You probably guessed that I'm not the world's biggest Coldplay fan, but dammit if this isn't well done:

Good morning, Mr. Jeffers

Hey folks,

KUCI is presenting a special screening of Zach Galifianakis's movie "Visioneers" next Friday (the 31st) at 8:00pm. Admission is the low, low price of $5, and proceeds to go help the station stay afloat while the University is cutting millions from its budget. Please come down, and bring your friends with good comedic taste. :)

The trailer can be seen here:

And feel free to go to http://www.kuci.org/visioneers for more details. Hope to see you there.

We can TOTALLY BONE!!!

I've been listening to the Dananananaykroyd album "Hey Everyone!" a lot for the last two weeks. It's definitely grown on me. I wasn't sure what to expect from their "fight-pop" genre label, but what it apparently means is "sort of like a cross between the Blood Brothers and Los Campesinos!" It's like twee pop you're supposed to mosh to? And they have two drummers so you get that hint of ridiculous classic rock. Good times.

Unfortunately, the one professionally-made video of theirs I could find doesn't quite display their sound as much as I'd like, so, I'll give you a live one, too.

Playlist for 7-16-09

What's up, folks,

So, tonight I'm totally going to the OC Fair. That means a) I take it as a personal challenge to eat anything that is both fried and on a stick, and b) hours of shameful whie-trash people watching. I'm going to wear a Hooters shirt to blend in. Try and find me! I'll be the bearded college radio asshole in a Hooters shirt.

Anyway. Here's the playlist from last night's show:

J Mascis can both shred AND thrash

Anybody else stoked to see Dinosaur Jr. when they swing through SoCal again in November?

I suspect that video MAY be playing with our perceptions of how good the dudes in Dinosaur Jr. are at freestyle X-Games-type activities.
